Oh Cell No! Prevent Distracted Driving

The Motor Vehicle Safety Coalition recently launched a campaign called Get an App! Arrive Alive. Schuylkill County’s VISION is promoting the apps as a way to divert text messages while driving. Many of the apps send an auto reply saying that the driver will respond at a later time.

The coalition has developed, created and distributed posters, yard signs and public service announcements (PSAs) to each high school in Schuylkill County. The PSAs were read over the loudspeaker during football games. During Teen Safe Driving Week, October 16 to 23, coalition members distributed business cards to students with info on where they can download the apps.

  • Practice safe text… Don’t text and drive. Get an app to stop distracted driving.
  • Oh cell no! No text is worth a life. Don’t text and drive. Get an app to stop distracted driving.
  • YOLO… you only live once… Don’t let your last text become your last words. Don’t text and drive. Get an app to stop distracted driving.
  • The average text takes your eyes off the road for nearly five seconds; at 55 mph, this equals driving the length of a football field blind. Don’t text and drive. Get an app to stop distracted driving.
  • A texting driver is 23 times more likely to crash than a non-texting driver. Get an app to stop distracted driving.
