Rhoades Foundation Track and Field Results

The seventh Annual Senator Rhoades Youth Track and Field Games were held at Mahanoy Area Alumni Stadium on May 16. Well over 120 children from kindergarten to eighth grade participated. The games are sponsored by the James J. and Mary Edith Rhoades Foundation and the Mahanoy Area Track and Field Boosters.
This year’s recipient of the William “Buck” Jones FOR THE KIDS Award was Nancy Brylewsky, Mahanoy Area teacher, pictured above with Jim Rhoades, Jr. and Mary Edith Rhoades. The award is given annually to a person with a lifetime dedicated to the well being of the children of the Mahanoy Area. Previous winners are: 2009, William “Buck” Jones; 2010, John Murtin; 2011, Christine Evancho; 2012, Dorothy “Dot” Demmer; 2013, Dave Holmes; and 2014, Robert “Eggy” Killian.
Girls 13-14 year old 100 meter dash winners: 1st Autumn Moss, 2nd Claudia Clark, 3rd Shayla Mullen.
Girls K-1st-2nd grade 100 meter dash winners: 1st Nevaeh Kennedy, 2nd Carley Hasara, 3rd Carly Honus.
Boys 13-14 year old softball throw winners: 1st Cody Palubinsky, 2nd Anthony Merchlinsky, 3rd Cole Streisel.
Boys 9-10 year old 4×100 meter relay winners: Peyton Sendatch, Kadin Styka, AJ Levy, Jace Yedsena.
