There are a lot of fun things to do in or around Schuylkill County, PA. Here are our picks of the best six activities to consider this summer while with friends or family.

And remember, don’t limit yourself to the same things you do every year; get out and try something new. It’ll be fun for the whole family; or, a complete disaster that you’ll laugh about for years to come!

No. 1 – Have a Cookout

Grill and chill. This is an easy option, and you may not even have to leave home.

No. 2 – Visit an Amusement Park

Some nearby parks are Knoebels Amusement Resort, Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, and Hershey Park.

No. 3 – Take a Trip to a Nearby Lake

There are Locust Lake and Tuscarora state parks, which are free. Activities include swimming, picnicking, hiking, fishing, or simply enjoying nature. Camping, or cottage, yurt and boat rentals, are available for a fee.

No. 4 – Catch a Baseball Game

The Iron Pigs play in Allentown, the Railriders play at Montage Mountain, and there are little league and softball games locally.

No. 5 – Invite Friends Over for a Pool Party

Don’t have a pool? See #3 for info on free swimming and picnicking at Pennsylvania state parks.

No. 6 – Drive to the Beach

Pack up the car and hit the road! You’ll be sunbathing on the sand and splashing in the waves in no time.
