As a tradition, my family has been making Christmas cookies for many years. We make all different colors, shapes and flavors.

Here is my absolute favorite Christmas cookie recipe! My grandma, Joann Koback, taught me how to make them. We make them together almost every year.

My Favorite Tradition

Cream Cheese Cookies

You need the following:

1 c. shortening (Crisco)                               1 tsp. vanilla

8 oz. cream cheese                                     ½ tsp. salt

2 egg yolks                                                   2 c. sifted flour

1 c. sugar

Cream the shortening and cream cheese. Add sugar and mix well. Then add the vanilla, egg yolks, flour and salt. Mix well. Drop by teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheet. If you want, add quartered cherries on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes or until cookies have a light brown edge. Yields 3 to 4 dozen cookies.
